Simple 6 Ingredient Hummus

Hummus is a staple in my weekly meal prep lineup. Hummus is quick and easy to make as well as nutritious and delicious.

Hummus, because it contains chickpeas and tahini is a good source of protein, healthy fats and fiber. Just by adding 1-2 tbsp of hummus to a salad, bowl or snack plate you can add more nutrients to your diet.

Some ways I love to incorporate hummus into my dishes:

-whisked into a salad dressing to make it creamy
-added to a salad or other savory bowl
-as a spread on a veggie burger with mayo
-as a spread on a veggie wrap with avocado
-added to a snack plate with sliced fruit, veggies and crackers
-as a replacement for cheese in a quesidilla

I love hummus because it is packable. Whenever we go out for a picnic or are taking lunch on the go I always pack hummus and sliced veggies.

I also love hummus because of the skin loving ingredients. Chickpeas contain collagen boosting benefits as well as magnesium and antioxidants to support radiant skin. This hummus also contains lemons which supports skin brightening as well as healthy digestion- which key for healthy glowing skin. Not only that but this recipe contains tahini and olive oil which are healthy fats that are anti-inflammatory and support glowing skin.

This 6 ingredient hummus is my go to recipe most weeks. The reason why I love this recipe is because it is garlic and added flavor free. The reason why I make it this way most of the time is because I love adding hummus to a snack plate filled with fruits like banana, peaches, berries, pear, apple etc. I prefer just a simple hummus without the garlic and flavorings when I am eating it alongside fruit on a snack plate, and as a mom of little ones there is always lots of fruit on our snack plates.

What you need:

1 15oz can garbanzo beans drained and rinsed
1/2 tsp of salt or to taste
The juice from 1 1/2 lemons or 2-3 tbsp
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp tahini
1/3 cup of water (add more as needed to thin)

Directions: Add all ingredients to a food processor or high speed blender and blend until smooth. Store in an airtight glass container for up to a week. Enjoy!
