Blueberry Antioxidant Beauty Smoothie

This smoothie is a powerhouse of antioxidants, healthy fats, plant based protein and skin- loving nutrients. Here’s what’s inside:
Blueberries- these little gems are busting with antioxidants which help fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress. This means healthier, brighter and youthful looking skin.
Kale- Kale is rich in Vitamins A, C and K which help support collagen production, skin elasticity and cellular repair.
Banana- I love adding banana to smoothies because it adds the perfect amount of natural sweetness and helps to make your smoothie creamy. Bananas contain potassium and B Vitamins that help with hydration and natural energy.
Flax Seed- I love incorporating flax into my smoothies because it help to boost your fiber intake which supports gut health. When your gut is happy it will show on the outside!
Almond Butter- Almond butter is loaded with Vitamin E which is a skin loving antioxidant. Vitamin E helps support moisture retention and elasticity. I also personally love the flavor that almond butter adds to a smoothie. If you don’t love almonds you can use peanut butter, cashew butter or sunflower butter.
Plant Based Protein Powder- I love using a clean plant based protein powder like this one here. Protein helps to support muscle repair after a workout and is necessary for healthy glowing skin.
Unsweetened Almond Milk- I used a plain, unsweetened almond milk as a base for this smoothie. It creates a creamy texture while also adding healthy benefits.
What you need:
8-10 oz unsweetened almond milk
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tbsp flax meal
1 large leaf of fresh or frozen kale (or 1/2 a cup)
1 serving of vanilla plant based protein powder
Ice to thicken (optional)
Directions:
Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender.
Blend on high until smooth.
Pour and enjoy immediately.
Tip: Make this part of your morning routine
Drink this smoothie first thing in the morning to break your fast OR post workout to kickstart your glow from the inside out. For extra skin hydration I recommend having room temperature water infused with cucumber or lemon between meals.
