Strawberries And Cream Lactation Smoothie

One of my favorite things to have postpartum is a smoothie. They are refreshing, a great way to get in lots of vitamins and nutrients and they are quick and easy- everything I want postpartum.

This is one of my favorite smoothies to make postpartum. It supports milk supply and is a great way to boost your nutrition.

This smoothie contains oats which have been known to support milk supply. On top of that they are a great source of fiber and iron, both of which support the body postpartum.

It also contains flax meal which is also great for supporting milk supply. it’s also a great source of fiber and healthy fats which support the digestion and energy levels.

For this smoothie I love making it with coconut water as the liquid. Coconut water is a great way to support hydration which you need postpartum and especially when breastfeeding. If you don’t have coconut water or just want it to be creamier, feel free to substitute for plant based milk like almond milk.

What you need (serves 1):

8-10 oz coconut water or plant based milk
½ a frozen banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
1-2 pitted medjool dates
1 servings vanilla plant based protein powder (I use this one here)
1 tbsp flax meal
¼ cup organic rolled oats
2 tbsp coconut yogurt

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients (leaving out the yogurt) in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Add the coconut yogurt to a glass. Pour the smoothie into the glass. Enjoy immediately.

Meal prep tip: Because life gets busy with little ones, I find it to be helpful to take a few minutes to prep! This helps set you up to eat healthier with more ease. I recommend making frozen smoothie packs. Just combine everything for this smoothie (leaving out the water or milk and the coconut water) in a zip lock bag and store in the freezer. When you are ready to eat just dump it into the blender and add the milk! It helps make coursing your body that much easier!
