Healthier Caesar Salad Wrap With A Tahini Caesar Dressing
One thing that helped me build healthier eating habits was making my favorite go-to options better for you. One of my favorite things to make and order was always a Caesar salad, especially on a wrap. However, typical Caesar salad dressings and kits from the store are not so great for you. This is why I love making healthier versions at home.
This Caesar wrap is easy to make! I love that the dressing is tahini based which offers lots of amazing benefits. Tahini contains healthy fats, B vitamins, selenium and other vitamins and minerals to support your glow from the inside out. The dressing also makes enough for 3 servings, so you can have this wrap multiple days!
What you need (makes 3 servings):
3 tortillas warmed according to package instructions
4-5 large handfuls of chopped lettuce (I love doing a combination of kale and romaine)
1/3 cup shredded cheese (a dairy free parm or fresh grated manchego are my picks)
2 cups cooked plant based chicken or baked tofu (or your choice of protein, shrimp would be delish!) I used this plant based version here)
3 tbsp hemp hearts
1/3 cup tahini
1 lemon juiced or 2-3 tbsp lemon juice
A few pinches of salt or to taste
A few pinches of fresh ground black pepper
1 tbsp dijon mustard
½ tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or a steak sauce like this one here (I used the steak sauce because the ingredients are better but both work well)
1/3 cup plus 1-2 tbsp water to thin
Directions:
Add the lettuce, cheese, plant based chicken/tofu and hemp hearts to a mixing bowl. In a jar combine the tahini, lemon juice, pepper, salt, dijon mustard, garlic powder, nutritional yeast and the Worcestershire sauce or steak sauce. Whisk until thick and smooth. Gradually add the water until it becomes a creamy dressing like consistency. Pour over the salad and toss until well combined. Add the salad to the tortillas and wrap. Option to heat over the stove top to get a crispier tortilla. Slice in half and enjoy!
To meal prep this simply wait to pour the dressing over the lettuce until serving. store the salad mix and the dressing in separate containers until you’re ready to eat.
