Apple Crisp Smoothie

This Apple Crisp Smoothie is one of my favorite breakfasts or post workout meals to make when apples are in season. It’s nourishing and even though it’s icy, it still feels cozy! I love the addition of protein powder, it’s the perfect way to start your morning or refuel after a workout.

What you need (serves 1):

    •    ½ Honeycrisp apple chopped

    •    1 scoop protein powder (vanilla works best)

    •    ¼ cup oats

    •    1 Medjool date, pitted

    •    ¼ cup yogurt (Greek yogurt for extra protein or coconut yogurt for plant based)

    •    8–10 oz milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy)

    •    ½ tsp cinnamon

    •    Ice (a handful, optional for a thicker texture)

Directions:

Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Add more ice for a thicker smoothie and adjust cinnamon flavor as needed!

Tips & Variations

    •    Extra Creamy: Add 1 tablespoon of nut butter (almond or peanut) for added protein and creaminess.

    •    More Fiber: Toss in a tablespoon of flaxseed or chia seeds.

    •    Apple Pie Twist: Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves with the cinnamon.

    •    Make it Green: Blend in a handful of spinach- you won’t taste it, but you’ll get extra nutrients.
