Glowing Greens Smoothie

One of my favorite ways to nourish my digestion, immune system and skin health is with a glowing greens smoothie.

Smoothies are one of my favorite breakfasts because they are a great way to pack in lots of essential vitamins and nutrients. Not only that, but smoothies are already broken down through blending making them easier on your digestion which can result in less bloating. I also love smoothies because they are sweet, delicious and refreshing, especially during the warmer months.

This green smoothie does not taste “green” or earthy. When it comes to making a “green smoothie”, I believe it should be something nutritious as well as delicious. Food is not only nourishment but it is enjoyment. This is why I create tasty green smoothies like this Glowing Greens Smoothie.

This smoothie contains everything you need to glow from the inside out like detoxifying cilantro, digestive boosting ginger and pineapple, fibrous greens and hydrating skin-boosting orange. This smoothie also contains chlorella which may have the ability to cleanse heavy metals and micro plastics from the body. Plus, it offers benefits for your skin and digestive health.

If you don’t have chlorella at home you can substitute it for spirulina (blue or green) or skip if needed.

Not a fan of cilantro? I promise with a small amount in this smoothie you won’t be able to taste it. However, if it completely turns you off just add some extra spinach or kale to the smoothie for added greens.

What you need (serves 2):

16 oz coconut water or unsweetened plant based milk
2 servings of vanilla protein powder
1 inch of fresh and peeled ginger
About 3 tbsp of fresh cilantro
1 frozen banana
1 large orange peeled
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
2 large handfuls of kale or spinach
2 tbsp flax meal
1/3 cup coconut yogurt or other probiotic rich yogurt
1 tsp chlorella powder or spirulina powder
Ice optional

Directions: Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve and enjoy immediately.
